K 2019 is fully booked. Over 3,000 exhibitors from more than 60 countries are said to have registered to participate. According to its organizers from the Messe Düsseldorf, the world's premier fair for the plastics and rubber industry will occupy the entire exhibition grounds with some 175,000 m² of net exhibition space; more than 200,000 trade visitors from all over the world are expected come to the event.

Circular economy will be one hot topic

Not only the exhibitor's stands but also the supporting programme reportedly will be addressing the current challenges of the industry, first and foremost in regard to “plastics for sustainable development” and the “circular economy”. For example, the special exhibition “Plastics Shape the Future” will discuss current topics, including packaging waste, marine litter and climate change on the one hand and resource conservation, energy efficiency and recycling on the other. “Plastics Shape the Future” is said to not only offer an international information and networking platform but reportedly also to provide for greater involvement of policymakers and socially relevant groups.

Dialogue with science

The Science Campus of K 2019 reportedly stands for the dialogue between science and industry, with sustainability and recycling management also being examined. Last but not least, the joint appearance of VDMA (German Engineering Federation) and its member companies will also be focused this time on the topic of the circular economy.
