KraussMaffei investing in Germany

KraussMaffei Berstorff is planning for the future in Germany and will build a new plant for extrusion technology. At the beginning of June, the company signed a rental contract with committee reservation with the company VGP, a project developer for commercial real estate, thus firing the starting shot for the construction of an approximately 55,000 sqm production hall and office complex.

Work for the plant on the 80,000 sqm area in the Laatzen business park near Hannover is said to be completed by the end of 2022. According to the group, the new location will have a state-of-the-art TechCenter, production and office facilities, and provide space for up to 750 employees.

Technology center for extrusion technology

The main feature of the new company headquarters reportedly will be an InnovationCenter with state-of-the-art extrusion technology. There, intricate extrusion experiments can be carried out on different systems under realistic production conditions, according to the company. More than twenty state-of-the-art machines ranging from a small laboratory system through to a production machine are said to be available. There will also be special emphasis on the demonstration of technology for processing plastic waste to create new materials for use.

Production in accordance with Industry 4.0

In the new building complex, the company – by its own account – will align its production in accordance with the principles of Industry 4.0. In Laatzen, a smart factory with continuously networked production and data processing in real time, visualized processes and data evaluation reportedly will be set up.
